Irish dance is great physical activity.  It helps develop body control and coordination, helps increase mental skills through listening, following directions , increasing attention span and memorizing steps.  Irish dance also builds self-esteem, increases confidence and builds lasting friendship.  Dancers have the opportunities to share their new skills and give back to their community through performances at cultural events, schools, hospitals and retirement centers.  The dancer may also demonstrate their dance skills in organized competitions.
